ANDRAS VOLOM

Welcome to the Repository of my Thoughts

I first saw the light on 1 May, 1996 in the beautiful city of Budapest. Just 7 years after the democratic transition, politics was more vibrant than ever, and I got the best of it: two loving parents being ardent supporters of opposing parties. Every dinner was a clash of opinions, and yet we lived in cohesion not hate. It taught me that regardless of one's beliefs, it is possible to live well and grow strong together.

This is my North Star. Working towards mutual understanding to unlock potential for growth. It is the motivation that made me step into the shoes of other countries as a Model UN delegate in high-school, that inspired me to study International Relations at King's College in the 'salad bowl' of London, that pushed me to lobby tirelessly for launching Hungary’s UN Youth Delegate Programme, that drove me to lead a delegation representing young generations of EU citizens at G7 coming from one of the most euro-sceptic countries and that compelled me to establish V4SDG, the first NGO strengthening sustainability cooperation between the countries of the Visegrad Group: Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia.

Starting my life as a Schwarzman Scholar, once again the same force is at work. I set out to build bridges between China, the EU and the rest of the world to avoid conflict, strengthen cooperation, and above all to learn. With many similar chapters to come, I think this is the time to start sharing. Let me invite you on a journey in my head!
